What Is Distributed Generation?

Distributed Generation (DG) is a system located on-site, either on a roof or mounted on the ground, that generates electricity that is used directly on site. Distributed Generation projects are sometimes described as sitting “behind” a customer’s electrical meter.

Homeowners may choose on-site Distributed Generation solar for many reasons, including reduced energy costs, general environmental benefits of solar, and more. Systems can range from small arrays to serve the electric load of a home or business or large arrays to serve the electric load of an industrial site, factory, or other large electricity user.

DG projects are limited and approved by a commission at the State Level.

How Do I Get Started?

The first steps in getting your project approved is to sit down with an Solar Energy Consultant to see if your home is a viable. Your Solar Energy Consultant will go over program details and your home’s proposed plan. Your plan will include how much energy you are able to produce and how much energy your home consumes. Your Consultant will also go over any incentives that you can qualify for and what your energy costs will be after the project is installed.
